Social media is intimidating.
When building a social media presence, you’re probably overwhelmed with questions and anxieties.
Which platforms should I be on? What should I be saying? How often should I post? Photos or videos or both? Do likes, comments or clicks matter more?
The list goes on and ON!
I’m here to tell you that the key to turning heads and turning clicks into dollars is not flashy graphics or lengthy captions.
It’s CONSISTENCY.
You heard me! You don’t need a degree in graphic design or social media marketing to benefit from a social media presence. The first and likely most important step toward earning money through social media is to be consistent. Set a number of days you want to post. Hint: It doesn’t have to be daily! Then, set aside time each month to batch your content for the following month.
If you hold yourself accountable and create your social media content all at once every month, you will ease the stress of having to come up with content daily. Plus, as long as you are steadily pushing out content, your account will grow over time.
So, now that you understand the importance of consistency, how do you begin to write strategic content?
Good question! Here are a few of more rules for an engaging social media presence.
- Establish your brand: colors, voice, logo and stick to it
- Link your website on all of your social media accounts in the bio or about sections
- Use photos! People are more likely to engage with posts with photos
- Engage with those who engage with you! Respond to DMs and comments
- Research relevant hashtags and use them
- Don’t shy away from trying new things
- Have fun and give yourself grace!
Social media can be hard. It is discouraging when you don’t see the results you wanted. But it can also be an incredible tool for your business. And it can be a lot of fun! Just give yourself time and space to learn and grow. Take it one post at a time, and don’t expect to see rapid growth overnight.
As long as you’re consistent and true to your brand, you’ll feel comfortable and confident in no time!
