Why brand photography is so important

You’ve seen them. The beautiful Instagram feeds with well curated photos and the websites that have people’s pictures all over them.

In some ways they tend to make me envious and in others… stressed out because this now means we have to put our photos in our branding and that leads to more work and a lot of insecurities.

If you are anything like me, you want to know WHY this is so important before you make the decision to move forward.

According to makerandmoxie.com, brand photography makes your brand more relatable and human. In fact, 82% of consumers trust a company more and 77% are more likely to buy from a company — if the founder uses social media.

Eek those are some high numbers. Let’s face it, people love to buy from people! We dislike supporting faceless companies that simply don’t fit our values.

Branded photography can help your business create connections with potential and existing customers.

Here is how:

Puts a face to a name

Headshots, photos of founders, team photos and candid shots all help your viewers put a face to your company. Whether this is you or your entire team, customers can now get a sense of who they are working with. They can picture you when they are on the phone or via email and start to understand your communication style a bit better.

Brings in a human element

Many of us work in industries that sell products or services that can feel a bit cold sometimes. For example, if what you sell is kitchen accessories and you post the manufacturer’s images of those products on a white background every time, you are not standing out any more than Kohls or Walmart. But if you instead stage a shoot with your employees making yummy food with those kitchen accessories you have now helped customers picture what having these items in their home would be like.

Shows personality

Whether this is with yourself or your products, branded photos are a great way to bring in a little bit of personality! Even in product photography you can use colorful or neutral backgrounds to give off a certain feeling. You can bring in fun props and accessories or keep props at a minimum which also gives off a certain vibe. These elements help to shape the connection that viewers get with your products and services.

Shows the process

Buyers often struggle to make a decision to move forward with a purchase when they don’t truly understand the process. In this regard, you can SHOW them what working with you is like, what the process entails, etc… For example, in my own branded photos, we show the process of sketching and designing logos, designing websites and even taking branded photos for other clients!
